No Kings Protest Draws Crowds in Pewee Valley, Kentucky on March 28

Residents of Pewee Valley, Kentucky joined thousands of demonstrators across the state and millions nationwide today as part of the No Kings day of action on March 28, 2026. The Pewee Valley rally ran from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT at the corner of Ash Avenue and La Grange Road, drawing local residents who turned out to voice opposition to what organizers describe as authoritarian overreach by the Trump administration.

The Pewee Valley demonstration was one of 38 No Kings rallies held across Kentucky today, part of a coordinated nationwide effort that organizers say could be the largest single day of protest in American history, with more than 9 million people expected to participate in over 3,100 events across all 50 states.

What Is the No Kings Movement?

The No Kings movement is a coalition of progressive organizations — including the ACLU, MoveOn, the League of Women Voters, the National Education Association, SEIU, and dozens of other groups — united around a commitment to defending democratic values, the rule of law, and constitutional rights. The movement takes its name from the principle that no elected official, including the president, is above the law.

This March 28 event marks the third major No Kings national day of action. Previous rounds drew an estimated 5 million participants in June 2025 and 7 million in October 2025. Organizers say today is on track to surpass both of those milestones.

Kentucky No Kings Rallies Today

Kentucky saw one of the most active state-level turnouts in the country, with rallies held in Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, Covington, Bowling Green, and dozens of smaller communities. In the Louisville metro area, several events took place including the Pewee Valley rally and a major demonstration at Louisville Metro City Hall from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Pewee Valley rally was organized as part of the League of Women Voters of Kentucky Unite and Rise campaign, which called on all members and supporters across the state to participate in peaceful, nonviolent demonstrations. Organizers emphasized that all events adhered to a shared commitment to lawful protest and community safety, with trained safety leads at each location.

What Protesters Are Saying

Across the state and nation, demonstrators cited concerns including immigration enforcement, the conflict in Iran, rising costs of living, and what many describe as the erosion of democratic norms and judicial independence. Organizers framed the day as a moment of civic participation and community solidarity.

The ACLU of Kentucky issued guidance ahead of the rallies reminding participants of their First Amendment rights, including the right to film police officers and the steps to take if they believed their rights had been violated during a demonstration.

Pewee Valley and the Louisville Region

Pewee Valley is a small city in Oldham County, just east of Louisville, known for its historic character and tight-knit community. Today’s rally reflects the reach of the No Kings movement beyond major urban centers into suburban and rural Kentucky communities.
